Derek Jones — who played guitar for Las Vegas post-hardcore outfit Falling in Reverse — has died. He was 35. The band's frontman, Ronnie Radke, confirmed the news. The cause of death has yet to be revealed.
Jones, along with Radke, was one of only two original members left in the band, which has four albums to its name, including the group's most recent, 2017's Coming Home. In 2019, Falling in Reverse collaborated with Slipknot and Stone Sour's Corey Taylor on the standalone single "Drugs," and earlier this year, the band released a "reimagined" version of the title track off their debut LP, 2011's The Drug in Me Is You.
"I'll never forget when you picked me up from jail In Your old tour van to start falling in reverse," Radke wrote of his longtime friend and bandmate on Instagram. Adding to the tragedy, Jones' passing shortly follows the death of his fiancée Christina Cetta, who died from cancer in November 2019. After her diagnosis earlier that year, the couple created a GoFundMe to raise money for her treatment, and Falling Reverse gave special shirts to fans who donated. Jones' last Instagram post was on December 19th, 2019, and comprised of a photo of him and Cetta. In the caption, he wrote, "The early days. I miss you beyond belief you were my best friend and everything more."
