Glassjaw are commemorating 30 years of "making things" with five special shows to close out 2023. They kicked off the run of anniversary gigs on Wednesday at the Observatory in Santa Ana, California. Last night, the Long Island post-hardcore heroes took the celebration to Los Angeles, playing a massive, 24-song, career-spanning set.
The show went down at L.A.'s Echoplex in front of a capacity crowd. Locals Modern Color opened, but the evening belonged to the headliners, helmed by the core duo of vocalist Daryl Palumbo and guitarist Justin Beck. As in Santa Ana, Glassjaw played large portions of their two classic albums, Worship & Tribute and Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Silence, multiple cuts off Material Control, and several other deeper cuts including "Black Nurse," a live rarity from 2011's Coloring Book EP.
Photographer Jarrod Anthonee was on hand to catch the action — see some of his standout shots below.
To further commemorate three decades of Glassjaw, Revolver and our sister brands BrooklynVegan and Alternative Press have teamed with the band for a deluxe photo book that presents an oral history of the group as told by the people who and the places that influenced the group.
In addition, Revolver has newly pressed five of Glassjaw's greatest works to limited-edition vinyl, packaged together as The Playable Collection. Quantities of the vinyl and the book are both extremely limited — order yours at Revolver's shop.
Glassjaw will continue the 30th anniversary festivities on December 28th in Chicago, and then on the 29th and 30th for a two-night stint in Brooklyn.
