Earlier this month, industrial-metal legends Godflesh announced their first album in six years, Purge, the follow-up to 2017's Post Self. Today (April 3rd), the duo — comprised of bandleader Justin K. Broadrick and co-founding bassist Ben Green — unleashed its lead single "Nero," along with three remixes. No surprise: It's heavy, danceable and totally badass.
"Nero," according to Broadrick," is "a symbol and reminder of irresponsible self-destruction as being practiced always, now and forever." Stream it below.
According to the band members, Purge "revisits and updates the concepts of [1992's] Pure, as well as bringing a whole host of new dirges and laments." Specifically, the album reportedly features plenty of Nineties hip-hop grooves — as Pure does — and "puts them through the Godflesh filter to create something futuristic in style — and utterly unique."
Purge is due out June 9th via Broadrick's own Avalanche Recordings and available for pre-order now. In addition, Godflesh announced North American tour plans for later this year. See the itinerary below.
