Militarie Gun are one of the fastest-rising names in the ever-blending worlds of hardcore, punk and indie-rock. Back in 2021, we named the band — fronted by Regional Justice Center's Ian Shelton, and featuring members of Drug Church and Modern Color — an artist you need to know on the strength of their twin EP's, All Roads Lead to the Gun I and II, and after signing to Loma Vista last year and dropping a couple more hot singles, Militarie Gun are finally gearing up for album mode.
Today (February 21st), they've unveiled a new single called "Do It Faster" that serves as the lead single from their upcoming, though still unannounced, debut LP.
Since the beginning, Militarie Gun have found unlikely harmony in melding the classic pop-rock of Guided By Voices with the gritty snarl of post-hardcore bands like Turning Point and Fugazi. "Do It Faster" is one of their most outwardly catchy songs yet, but it's still got a rough-and-tumble punk spirit to it that comes through heavy in Shelton's spit-hocking delivery. "It is about my overall impatience with life," Shelton said of the song. "The agonizing wait for things to materialize… so before resigning to do it myself, I'm imploring the world to just move faster."
