If you were to name a handful of artists who Polyphia are comparable to, Steve Vai would probably be in there. The Texas instrumental prog group helmed by guitarist Tim Henson specialize in the type of forward-thinking prog displays that Vai been a hero for since his early days in Frank Zappa, so it must've been a "pinch-me" moment for Polyphia to get Vai himself on their new song "Ego Death."
The track is the latest taste of Polyphia's upcoming fourth album, and first in four years, Remember That You Will Die, that's due out later this fall. In addition to Vai, the record features guest appearances from Deftones' Chino Moreno, electronic producer Lil West, rapper $not and many more, but compared to last month's catchy indie-pop single with Sophia Black, "Ego Death" is much more in the vein of Polyphia's shreddy instrumental mischief that they built their name on.

Remember That You Will Die will be released October 28th via Rise Records and it's now available for pre-order here.
