SALTPIG is a two-man international metal band comprised of U.S.-based vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Mitch Davis and Italy-based drummer Fabio Alessandrini. Davis is best known as a producer who has worked with and recorded bands and musical artists including Damon Albarn, U2, Mark Lanegan, Billy Squier, Danger Mouse, Stephen Malkmus and L.A. Guns, but his own band is way heavier.
Today (September 18th), SALTPIG have unleashed their debut single, "Demon," which evokes the fuzzy stoner-metal rumble of Kyuss and early Queens of the Stone Age. It arrived along with a psychedelic, retro-horror-themed music video created by Davis. Watch and listen above.
"Demon" is the first taste of SALTPIG's self-titled debut album.
"The only rule I gave myself and Fabio was to disregard anything that could be considered a 'rule,' and at the same time to not be jarringly different just for the sake of being different," Davis says of making the record. "It's more about just following a creative vision without having to be constrained by what is expected. It all sounds varied from song to song, but consistently SALTPIG at the same time because, in the end, it's still me writing the songs, singing, playing the parts and producing/mixing the tracks with Fabio playing the drums, so It always sounds like SALTPIG."
