Playing a maniacal style of heavy music the band calls "nu-core," Tallah are one of the groups leading the new wave of nu-metal. The Pennsylvania gang features former Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy's son Max — who's currently pulling double-duty touring behind the kit with Code Orange — and their music mashes up the metallic hardcore ferocity of that band with the skronky heaviness of groups like Mudvayne and System of a Down.
On their latest single, "Shaken (Not Stirred)," however, Slipknot looms large, at least musically. Vocally, YouTube-bred singer Justin Bonitz is a one-of-a-kind mad man. Blast the song — which appears on the band's upcoming The Generation of Danger LP — above via its frenetic music video.
"Shaken is a song built on hooks," Max Portnoy commented. "We spent a ton of time perfecting the chorus, bringing it to a place we felt was super memorable while still retaining the darkness and heaviness that the rest of the record has. It made for what I believe is the best hook we've written so far. And the hook from the main guitar riff is just as strong. It's a top-tier track, in my opinion."
The Generation of Danger is due out November 18th via Earache Records.
