Zulu are one of the heaviest bands in contemporary hardcore, and their form-bending 2023 album, A New Tomorrow, is one of the best records of 2023 so far. Their bludgeoning breakdowns are interspersed with bits of retro soul, funk and jazz-rap, but apparently they also have a soft spot for nu-metal.
For the latest edition of the Spotify Singles series, Zulu have shared an utterly decimating cover of the old-school Slipknot classic "Wait and Bleed," and it's even better than we could've anticipated.
Zulu's dense, beastly sound vibes perfectly with the gnarly grooves and deep, gurgling vocals of the 1999 nu-metal banger, and they manage to put their own unique spin on the track without rendering it unrecognizable. If this was just a one-off studio recording then we'll just have to stick to bedroom moshing, but if Zulu ever decide to pull this out in the live environment ... good god, shit will go down.
