There's a new emo-punk supergroup in town. L.S. Dunes are a band comprised of My Chemical Romance guitarist Frank Iero, Coheed and Cambria axeman Travis Stever, Circa Survive singer Anthony Green and Tim Payne and Tucker Rule of Thursday. The band formed during the doldrums of the pandemic in 2020, and after secretly recording their debut album, Past Lives, with prolific producer Will Yip (Turnstile, Code Orange, Nothing), they're finally unveiling their existence today with a fiery lead single called "Permanent Rebellion."
The track is a full-throttle assault of the early 2000s emo variety, bringing to mind the sound of early Thursday, My Chemical Romance and Saosin, the band Green fronted prior to Circa Survive. It's a goddamn ripper, and you can listen above via YouTube.
"We never knew if we would ever get to play these songs together; in fact none of us lifelong musicians really knew if we'd ever be able to play music for a live audience ever again," Iero said in a press release. "'Permanent Rebellion' is about taking back what is rightfully yours."
"We wanted to do something where you can hear all our bands in it and yet, not have it sound like any one in particular," Rule added. "Our roots are punk rock and hardcore, and the vibe is hope for all the lost souls."
Past Lives is due out November 11th via Fantasy Records. Revolver's exclusive vinyl variant already sold out within hours, but you can pre-order a different variant here. See the artwork and track listing below.
