Lamb of God have been consistently cranking out rock solid groove-metal overtures for over two decades now. The Richmond band have never taken a hiatus or gone more than a few short years without releasing a record, so for someone who wants to dip their toes into their imposing discography, the sheer amount of valid starting points can be overwhelming.
For them, Revolver is here to help with our "Point of Entry" series, in which we ask artists to pick the single standout cut from across their entire catalog that they believe is the best place for virgin listeners to begin their journey. Below, Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton does the honors. It was such a tough choice that he couldn't just pick one.
"Walk With Me in Hell" and "512"
"Walk With Me in Hell" is one of those songs — "512" is one of these songs, too, and it's on my least favorite album [2015's VII: Sturm Und Drang]— but I view those songs the same way. They just really showcase everything Lamb of God does. If you wanted to introduce someone to the band who've never heard the band.
And maybe it's not us being the best version of [ourselves], but those songs have all the ingredients of the band and are wrapped up into really solid song structures that you remember and that you want to hear again. The performances on those songs are all great. I can't remember a time we played a live show without playing "Walk With Me in Hell."
Below, see Morton's brutally honest and incredibly persuasive ranking of the entire Lamb of God discography.
