Celebrity chef Matty Matheson just unveiled his new cooking series on YouTube, Just a Dash, last week (see below) and today (October 9th) marks the one-year anniversary of his debut cookbook, titled simply Matty Matheson: A Cookbook. Matheson's larger-than-life personality is matched only by his voracious drive to create more, so far resting on his laurels, the chef has just announced a vinyl edition of that cookbook, which will showcase a unique blend of food and music.
Matheson will narrate the recipes in his signature hilarious style, and the album will come with a 40-page zine featuring songs from the Roadrunner Records catalog to pair with the meals: French Onion Soup with Type O Negative's "Love You to Death," Choucroute Garnie with Sepultura's "Refuse/Resist," Pot Roast with Turnstile's "Generator" are just a few of the combinations you can expect.
Matheson's status has been steadily growing over the past year or so, with regular appearances on Vice's show Munchies, an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and the inaugural edition of his very own Mattyfest, a Toronto-based food and music festival that featured famed acts like Wu-Tang Clan, Descendents, Danny Brown and Gogol Bordello.
The new edition to his growing resume, the special edition vinyl double-LP will be available on November 22nd via Roadrunner, a label that "provided the foundation of Matty's music DNA." Pre-orders aren't up yet, but those (epi)curious can whet their appetite with the original book by purchasing it at this location before the full sonic feast is available just in time for Thanksgiving.
