Mike Patton's First Show Since 2020: See Mr. Bungle Video and Setlist

Revered singer returned to stage in Chile

It's been a hard road back to the stage for Mike Patton. The revered vocalist has been largely out of the public eye since his two most famous bands, Faith No More and Mr. Bungle, canceled their tour dates in 2021 citing "mental health reasons" on the part of the singer. He's since released an acclaimed new album, II, from his hardcore-punk supergroup Dead Cross, but still expressed trepidation about returning to the road and playing a live show.

Last night (December 8th), in Santiago, Chile, Patton finally faced that fear and played his first gig since before the pandemic, taking the stage at Teatro Coliseo with Mr. Bungle. It was the first of six dates the avant-metal band has booked in South America to close out the year. They're also scheduled to play the Sick New World festival in May.

Joined by his all-star Bungle bandmates — Trey Spruance, Trevor Dunn, Dave Lombardo and Scott Ian — Patton tore through an awesome set comprised of cuts off the group's 2020 album, The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny Demo, a re-recording of their 1986 self-released demo tape of the same name, plus a shitload of covers, mostly of hardcore and punk classics. Patton was in fine form, opening the show wearing a Clint Eastwood-style poncho and cowboy hat, and sounding great.
