There's a new music competition show in town, and one that's geared specifically toward rock fans who actually want to hear new, original music. Simply titled No Cover, the show produced by Hit Parader, features a cast of metal and hard-rock heavyweight judges — Alice Cooper, Halestorm's Lzzy Hale, Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale, Animals as Leaders shredder Tosin Abasi and U.K. musician Bishop Briggs — who watch unsigned artists perform their own songs and determine if they have what it takes to be a huge star. Now, the first two episodes are available to watch on YouTube.
Contrary to shows like American Idol and the Voice that encourage contestants to perform other people's songs, No Cover only allows original material to be played for the judges, and the winner of the show, as Blabbermouth points out, will be given a real shot at rock stardom with a variety of massive prizes — a six-figure recording contract with Sumerian Records, high-profile festival slot(s) via Danny Wimmer Presents, booking agency representation from UTA, management from the Shelter Music Group, studio time at Nightbird Recording Studios, new gear from Gibson, brand endorsements, licensing opportunities and more.
Also, the show is co-hosted by Sleeping With Sirens' Kellin Quinn and SiriusXM Octane's Caity Babs. Check out the first couple episodes, which are both about a half hour in length, above and below via YouTube.
