Carrie Underwood really loves Ozzy Osbourne's "Mama, I'm Coming Home." The country star and American Idol winner previously covered the 1991 power-ballad for a 2022 Apple Music Sessions single, but she banged out her rendition of the tune again during a recent appearance on The Howard Stern Show.
On May 3rd, Underwood performed her country-fied version of Ozzy's "No More Tears" classic, maintaining the recognizable aspects of the track while also transforming it into her own thing. According to Underwood, she actually got the blessing of Sharon Osbourne before she ever played the cover live, which was incredibly exciting for her because she's been an Ozzy fan since she was a teenager.
"I very much remember being a teenager discovering my own musical tastes and my mom being very much against me listening to Ozzy," Underwood revealed. "I was also like, 'I feel like you need to listen to some of these lyrics,' because it's not all darkness. There's a lot of love songs and things that are a lot more melodic and sweet."
