Lars Ulrich recently brought LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy on his Beats 1 radio show It's Electric! for a candid interview on the dance-punk band's ups and downs, his musical upbringing and more. In anticipation of the upcoming episode, Apple Music has unveiled excerpts from the first segment of the conversation, which airs later this week. Below, watch Murphy open up to the Metallica drummer about moving New York City, battling creative insecurity and abiding by proper bathroom etiquette.
Part 1 of Ulrich and Murphy's two-part interview airs this Sunday, December 3rd, at 3 p.m. PST/6 p.m. EST, followed by part two on Sunday, December 10th. Tune in here.
Last time on It's Electric!, Ulrich joined his Metallica bandmates James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, Rob Trujillo to talk Master of Puppets (which the Big Four thrashers recently treated to a deluxe reissue). Other past guests on the show include Primus bassist Les Claypool, who told all about his botched Metallica audition, and head Foo Fighter Dave Grohl, who detailed random run-ins with Mick Jagger, Lemmy Kilmister and others.
