On November 11th, 2013, Motionless in White were at the House of Blues in Boston, Massachusetts, playing as part of the Hellpop Tour with In This Moment, Kyng and All Hail the Yeti. Earlier that year, they had introduced a very special cover into their set: a reverent take on the Danzig classic "Mother." And that night, they played it with particular gusto, as captured in the fan-shot video above.
"Oh my god!" one concertgoer is heard exclaiming as the anti-PMRC anthem's iconic opening riff kicks in, no doubt summing up the feelings of their fellow attendees. The whole audience sings along to the song, but MIW frontman Chris Motionless still cuts through, putting the deeper end of his vocal range to good use. The band doesn't try to anything unusual with the song — and they shouldn't. They just play it straight like the tried and true classic it is.
MIW would go on to play "Mother" 50 times over 2013, 2014 and 2015 — when they retired the cover, playing it for the last night on December 10th at Logan Campbell Centre, Auckland, New Zealand.
