We've been closely following the exploits of Riley Hawk — pro skater, Motörhead fan extraordinaire, Petyr guitarist and, yes, Tony's son — for a while now, and his latest musical undertaking may be our favorite of his adventures yet. Just a year old, Hawk's "low-budget horror-rock" trio Warish is part Bleach-era Nirvana, part Danzig-era Misfits, part Gibby Haynes–fronted Ministry. Which is to say, the band's just-released debut full-length, Down in Flames, rocks hard. (You can order a copy via RidingEasy Records.)
"We wanted to do simpler riffs and a fun live show," Hawk has said of the band. "A little more punk, a little bit of grunge ... a little evil-ish." All of which plays out in Warish's new music video for the song "Bleed Me Free," a feverish, acid-soaked retro performance clip premiering right here right now.
The video arrives just ahead of the group's fall tour with San Francisco stoner-rock veterans Acid King, who reissued their Busse Woods album on RidingEasy this summer. The trek kicks off tomorrow, September 20th, in Portland, Oregon — see the full itinerary below.
