Billy Corgan is a pretty spooky guy, and it's only fitting Smashing Pumpkins deliver a Halloween treat with their latest video for "Silvery Sometimes (Ghosts)," from forthcoming 10th studio album Shiny and Oh So Bright Vol. 1 / LP: No Past. No Future. No Sun.
The video — which kicks off with Mark McGrath of Sugar Ray playing a smarmy radio station MC sending Billy and the Pumpkins into a haunted house for a charity fundraiser — is set up as if there are web-stream cameras set up throughout the house (ala Halloween Resurrection), capturing the band interacting with the weird rooms of the house, while also watching themselves play on a bunch of TV screens through the house.
They run into a bunch of spooky sights, including a haunted dummy, and a wild cameo appearance from darkwave act Drab Majesty in full makeup. Songwise, it's pure Siamese Dream style Pumpkins, summery-riffs that play like a warm embrace, and the video plays back to their great videos of yesteryear.
