It's kinda wild that Tim Burton has yet to take on the Addams Family, but that match made in hell is about to hit Netflix. The streaming platform today (June 6th) revealed the first teaser clip of actor Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams, the titular hero of the upcoming Burton-directed series Wednesday. Due out later this year, the show will follow the eldest Addams child as she "attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships," according to the official synopsis.
In addition to Ortega, the series also stars Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzman, Gwendoline Christie and Christina Ricci, who, of course, played Wednesday in the popular Nineties Addams Family movies. Netflix promises "a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams' years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Snap snap."
