Hell has frozen over, time is a flat circle, and Jesse Leach and Howard Jones are screaming their heads off together in the same abandoned warehouse, on the same Killswitch Engage track.
Today, the veteran metalcore quintet unveiled the video for "The Signal Fire," which goes down as the most historically significant song in the band's career. For the uninitiated, there have been two major eras under the Killswitch banner; the records fronted by Jones, and the records fronted by Leach. But on the just-released eighth studio album Atonement, those frontmen trade verses like they're battle-rapping. According to guitarist-producer Adam Dutkiewicz, this was a sensitive thing to arrange, but the end-product came together nicely.
"Jesse was intimidated by filling [Howard's] shoes, and I think there was just this mental hangup and awkwardness between Jesse and Howard because of that," he told Revolver. "But one day I was like, 'Fucking watch this. We're all going to hang out in a room together and see what happens.' And then Jesse was like, 'Wait a minute, Howard is, like, the coolest guy in the world. Never mind.'"
Today we witness the fruits of their labor. The music video for "The Signal Fire" is fairly basic, but we really enjoy the anime-esque reveal of Howard Jones lurking in the corner. Watch above.
