Metalcore seems to be growing in popularity among mainstream pop figures. Earlier this summer, Demi Lovato said she wants to collaborate with Knocked Loose. Then Billie Eilish posted an It Dies Today song on her Instagram story.
Now, indie-folk superstar Phoebe Bridgers has shared a photo of herself in a Dying Wish hoodie!
The "Motion Sickness" singer and Boygenius member posted a dump of photos on her Instagram today (August 18th) and one of them is a picture of her wrapped in a sweatshirt with the words Dying Wish clearly printed across the front.
In the comments, Dying Wish frontperson Emma Boster commented with an elated, "Holy shit" and a heart emoji, and then the band account replied, "LET'S GO PHOEBE."
Bridgers' music exists in a completely different universe than Dying Wish's bludgeoning metalcore, but it's not a total shocker that she'd dip her toes into mosh music.
Her Boygenius bandmate, Julien Baker, grew up loving Chrisitan metalcore bands like Underoath and Norma Jean, and eventually released her first album on 6131 Records — who've put out dozens of hardcore albums over the years.
So maybe Baker has put Bridgers onto some shit with breakdowns, or maybe she found her way to Dying Wish on her own. Either way, it's fucking cool to see her rep a band like them. Check out the photo below via Bridgers' Instagram.
